ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
Planet Earth is an absolutely incredible place.
As an eco-conscious, plant-powered human who cares about their environmental responsibility, it is important to me that my business does what it can to reflect the same sustainability standards that I strive for in my personal life. With that in mind, here’s a non-exhaustive list of some of the changes I’ve implemented in the Studio and the Art Deco Boudoir since 2009 to move towards that goal…

CRUELTY FREE & VEGAN
They say like-minded people attract, which is why all of my resident hair and make-up artists pride themselves on their cruelty-free styling kits! Opting for fully vegan products wherever possible too, my aim is to pamper you to perfection for your brand shoot without any ethical compromise.

PAPERLESS BOOKING SYSTEM
Since 2017 I’ve been running a completely paperless booking system for the studio, with all contracts, invoices, payment links and images provided digitally to my clients via secure online services. We’re all about saving the trees and helping you reduce your carbon footprint at the same time. You’re welcome!

PLASTIC FREE PACKAGING
All of my packaging comes from Lil Packaging, a fantastic UK based company who are as committed to sustainability as I am. Everything I post is delivered in 100% recyclable & FSC certified cardboard. Prints are posted in 100% post-consumer waste paperboard, which is 100% recyclable & 100% biodegradable.

RE-USE & RECYCLE
As a predominantly digital brand, I create little physical waste, however more can always be done to minimise my environmental impact. All portable studio equipment runs on rechargeable Li-ion batteries. Additionally, to reduce single-use plastic, all clients booking make up services will be asked to bring their own mascara to eliminate the use of disposable wands.

RENEWABLE ENERGY
My studio is supplied by a green dual-energy tariff, which matches all electricity consumption with 100% renewable energy sources, as well as offsetting the carbon footprint of any gas used to heat the building. Energy-saving lighting is also installed throughout – with exception of my vintage lamps, where this is not possible (I save them for special occasions!)

CARBON OFFSET
Travel is a necessary part of being a brand photographer and is a large element of my carbon footprint. In 2020, I signed up to Ecologi, a UK company that invests money into projects that remove more greenhouse gasses than your own carbon footprint creates. Since signing up, I’ve planted 415 trees. Want to help grow my forest? Make a one-time donation here.
Can you think of anything else I could do to improve our environmental responsibility and reduce our carbon footprint further? I’m always open to suggestions and ideas – please feel free to drop us an email via the contact page with your suggestions!
