let’s talk about

SUSTAINABILITY

MY COMMITMENT TO MY

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Planet Earth is an absolutely incredible place.

As an eco-conscious, plant-powered human who cares about environmental responsibility, it is important to me that my business does what it can to reflect the same sustainability standards that I strive for in my personal life.  With that in mind, here’s a non-exhaustive list of some of the changes I’ve implemented in the business since 2009 to move towards that goal

environmental responsibility - cruelty free and vegan make up

CRUELTY FREE & VEGAN

They say like-minded people attract, so it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that all of my resident hair and make up artists pride themselves on their cruelty free styling kits! Opting for fully vegan products wherever possible too, our aim is to pamper you to perfection during your boudoir shoot without ethical compromise.

environmental responsibility - paperless booking system

PAPERLESS BOOKING SYSTEM

2017 saw the launch of a brand new paperless booking system for the studio, with all contracts, invoices and image now provided digitally to our clients via secure online services. In 2020, one of our main goals is to digitise the last remaining paper-based process of makeover days and boudoir shoots – the model release. Watch this space!

environmental responsibility - plastic free packaging

PLASTIC FREE PACKAGING

Our book wraps come from Lil Packaging [AL], a UK based company who are as committed to sustainability as we are. All STRIP|TEASE books are posted in protective book wraps, which are 100% recyclable & FSC certified. I am working through remaining stock of plastic export documentation holders for non-UK orders and will replace these with biodegradable options.

DO GOOD WHILST FEELING INCREDIBLE

environmental responsibility - recycling

RE-USE & RECYCLE

All portable studio equipment now runs on rechargeable Li-ion batteries and any technology no longer required by the studio is returned, traded, sold or donated to other creatives wherever possible. Additionally, to reduce the use of single-use plastics, all clients are asked to bring their own mascara to eliminate the use of disposable wands.

environmental responsibility - renewable energy sources

RENEWABLE ENERGY

The studio & runs on a green energy tariff, which matches all electricity used with 100% renewable energy sources and offsets the carbon footprint of the gas used to heat the building. Energy-saving lightbulbs are also installed in the room – with the exception of a vintage lamp, where this is not possible (but I save this for special occasions only!)

environmental responsibility - carbon offsetting

CARBON OFFSET

Travelling to my boudoir photography clients contributes largely to my carbon footprint. In 2020 I signed up to Ecologi [AL], a UK company that invests money into projects that remove more greenhouse gasses than your own carbon footprint puts in. So far, we’ve planted over 1,200 trees. Want to help grow our forest? Make a one-time donation here.

Can you think of anything else we could do to improve our environmental responsibility and reduce our carbon footprint further? We are always open to suggestions and ideas – please feel free to drop us an email via the contact page with your suggestions!
